Welcome to the Shawsville Farmers' Market!
It's Rover the Duck's favorite farmers' market!
Hungry? Let’s eat!
The Shawsville Farmers' Market, in
beautiful downtown Shawsville,
Virginia, is CANCELED
June 24, 2017,
in the grass along the 460/11 side
We’re open “rain or shine” but, in view of the weather provoked by Tropical Storm Cindy, I’m canceling Saturday’s Shawsville Farmers’ Market to protect our vendors and customers. I’ve had a discussion with a member of the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Department, and have been monitoring the discussion at the Blacksburg Office of the National Weather Service. The strongest portion of the storm is expected to arrive Friday night into Saturday morning, with the possibility of 1-2” of rain per hour, localized flash flooding, and damaging straight-line winds causing isolated structural damage and downed trees and power lines. Route 460 is expected to be the dividing line between worse and not-as-severe weather, and the Market sits right on the boundary. Additionally, storm tracks are not carved in stone, so Shawsville could get even worse weather than what is forecast.
Please be safe in your endeavors this weekend. This is Lightning Safety Awareness Week; additional information can be found on the National Weather Service’s page at http://www.lightningsafety.noaa.gov/. Be especially cautious this weekend on our mountain curves, because you never know when you’ll meet a downed tree or a flooded roadway, in addition to the usual deer, cattle, and logging trucks. And always remember: Turn Around, Don’t Drown.
We wish you healthy food and dry feet. We look forward to seeing you next week!
Saturdays, generally 9 a.m. - 1 p.m.,
through October 7, 2017.
We’re open rain or shine,
but not this week!
Always watch out for flooded roads.
Turn around, don’t drown.
Let’s eat fabulous veggies direct from our gardens!
We're usually on the grass along the Rt. 460 side of the Meadowbrook Center in downtown Shawsville, Virginia, with hours of 9 a.m. - 1 p.m.
